As your Senator, I continue to champion the environment, the health of our community, and making the transition to clean, renewable energy. I also help lead efforts to defend women’s rights, defend LGBTQ rights, and provide a meaningful second chance for justice-involved individuals. I am a Democrat first elected in 2020 and my focus is on putting people and our environment first.

We face difficult challenges –  a rollback of women’s and LGBTQ rights, ensuring elections are fair and free, adequately supporting public schools, ensuring everyone has a chance to live a fulfilling, productive life, and the increased corporatization of medicine that diminishes the quality of care while also increasing the cost. We also need more flexibility to address our specific local challenges than Raleigh currently allows. As your Senator for North Carolina’s 49th District, I am putting my vision, values, experience and know-how to work to address these and other challenges.
